Simple FAQs

How long does the process take?

You will receive your PlumPrint book 4-6 weeks after our receipt of your artwork. During our busiest season directly after school year-end, please leave 6-8 weeks for turnaround.

What kind of art do you accept?

We accept all 2-D pieces of art and all small 3-D pieces (meaning smaller than 5″ x 3″ x 3″.) We advise against folding artwork as the creases make it very difficult to reproduce high-quality digital images. Rolling is a much better option for oversized pieces. Please see our tips  for sending your art.

Can I include a stapled or bound book that my child created?

Yes, you may include a book that your child made although each page counts as a piece of artwork as they will be digitized separately. In addition, we may need to disassemble the book in order to digitize it and we may not reassemble the artwork.

What if I want the art in a specific order, chronological or otherwise?

The Plum Print graphic design team has an eye for creating appealing books so we recommend that you let them determine the order. However, if you would like your pieces to appear in a specific order, please make sure that they are clearly marked as such with numbers on the back of each piece. Please see our tips  page for arranging your art.

Does each piece of artwork get it's own page?

Usually, no, but it depends on how many pieces of artwork you have. We fit up to 30 pieces of artwork into a 20 page book, up to 60 pieces into a 40 page book, up to 120 pieces into an 80 page book and up to 220 pieces into a 120 page book. If we get the maximum number of pieces accepted, most artwork will be “doubled up” on a page, but there will be several pieces that will get their own page.

Can I add photographs and text to the book?

Yes, you may email us (info@plumprint.com) ONE high-resolution photograph of your child along with a short blurb about them or their artwork that will be included on the title page of the book. We can also add short captions next to your images for a minimal fee listed on our pricing page.

What type of changes can I make on the proof?

You can make up to three minor changes on the proof that we send you. Examples of “minor changes” include a single page layout, a background color, or the size of a particular image. We cannot completely redesign the layout of a book after the proof is sent. If you would like a more extensive redesign, you can call our Customer Service department that will help determine the price for this process.

What exactly is a Plum Easy Shipping Kit?

All you need to do is drop the box at any FedEx location.  You may even include artwork for different books in one Plum Easy Shipping Kit.

Do I need to order a Plum Easy Shipping Kit?

No, the Plum Easy Shipping Kit is only a way to make shipping your artwork a little easier, you can certainly use your own box and supplies. You may also include artwork for different books in one Plum Easy Shipping Kit.

Do you return the art that I send?

Yes, all the art you send will be returned to you with your completed book.

How do you digitize the artwork?

We use both high tech scanners and sophisticated photography and lighting equipment to capture the perfect image of your children’s artwork. We will also do our best to eliminate errant blemishes, scratches or tears that were not part of the original mini masterpiece.

Are these books high quality?

All books are printed on the leading HP indigo digital offset printer. Softcover books are printed on 80 lb glossy paper with a perfect binding; they feature your artwork on a glossy cover. Hardcover books are printed on premium 100 lb glossy paper with a library binding; they feature your artwork on a matte cover that wraps around the cover of the book.

Can I send artwork from more than one child?

Sure, but we highly recommend ordering a separate book for each child. These books will be special keepsakes for your children that they will treasure—and eventually share with their own children. However, if you would like a special book made (perhaps for a grandparent) that includes the work of multiple children that is certainly possible. Use our caption service to credit each piece to a specific child. Captions have a minimal extra fee associated with them listed on our pricing page.
